Helderberg

Somerset West, Gordons Bay and Strand make up the Helderberg Basin. There is a combination of action packed mountains, warm blue ocean and white sandy beaches, making it one of the most sought after holiday destinations in the world.

The slopes of the mountains are covered in vineyards or botanical gardens. Whilst the Helderberg is a world of its own, it is still only a 30 minute drive from Cape Town International Airport, 15 minutes from the beautiful town of Stellenbosch and 40 minutes to Hermanus, famous for its Whale Watching.

There are many nature reserves in the area, the most noteworthy being the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, the first proclaimed international biosphere in South Africa in the heart of the Fynbos Kingdom with its 1600 fynbos.

This area is the heart of the internationally known Western Cape Wine Route, Somerset West and the Helderberg, boast some very fine wine touring opportunities, including the prestigious Vergelegen and Lourensford Wine Estates. Only 15 minutes away, you are in the heart of the famous Stellenbosch Wine Route where you can taste fine wines in spectacular surroundings.
